The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Adm. Idi Abbas, on Friday inaugurated key infrastructure projects in Lagos, reaffirming the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to improved welfare for its personnel.

The projects include a Dolphin Golf Club House, a 48-room accommodation block for junior ratings, and 16 units of two-bedroom flats, all located within Navy Town.

Abbas said the projects, inaugurated as part of activities marking the Nigerian Navy Week and the Service’s 70th anniversary, symbolised the Navy’s steady transformation into a modern maritime force.

He noted that the development underscored ongoing efforts to enhance living conditions, boost morale and provide a conducive environment for personnel and their families.

The CNS said the completion of the 48-room accommodation block, which had been abandoned for over five years, reflected the Navy’s resolve to revive and deliver stalled projects.

“We will continue to prioritise the completion of viable abandoned projects to ensure that personnel benefit from investments made on their behalf,” he said.

Abbas described the Dolphin Golf Club House as more than a recreational facility, noting that it would foster professional interaction and strengthen bonds among personnel, veterans and partners.

He urged officers, ratings and other beneficiaries to maintain the facilities and adopt responsible energy consumption habits.

The naval chief expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for his continued support towards the growth and modernisation of the Nigerian Navy.

He also commended contractors, engineers and project teams for their professionalism and dedication in delivering the projects.

Abbas expressed confidence that the new facilities would enhance operational effectiveness and contribute to the long-term development of the Service.
