“Says Nasarawa North Bye-Election Will Be ‘Game Changer’

The Labour Party(LP) in Nasarawa State, has affirmed Mr. Labaran Maku as its sole candidate for the Nasarawa North Senatorial District bye-election come June 20th, 2026.

Mr Babreson Zakaria Madaki, spokesman for the Nasarawa North executives of the LP and Chairman of the party in Akwanga LGA, stated this during its Zonal Executive emergency meeting in Akwanga LGA today.

It would be reported that Party officials made the declaration on Friday in Akwanga, shortly after an emergency meeting of zonal executives from the three local government areas.

He said the meeting was convened to address pressing issues ahead of the June 20 bye-election.

According to him, Chairmen and Secretaries of the party in Nassarawa Eggon, Akwanga and Wamba LGAs met under one umbrella to reaffirm their support for Maku.

He added that, the party remains committed to securing victory in the bye-election and the 2027 general elections.

Madaki said Maku was unanimously endorsed by party members on May 25, 2026, at the Esla Guest House, a move he described as a signal to opposition parties that the bye-election would be a game changer.

The party urged other leaders to support the Nenadi Usman-led national administration to ensure development and progress in Nasarawa State.

Also speaking, Mr Achuku Gambo Ibrahim, Chairman of the party in Nassarawa Eggon, said the party was fully prepared to face its opponents and emerge victorious.

He stated that mechanisms have been put in place to protect votes without rancour or intimidation.

Achuku advised the public to be wary of impostors parading themselves as party officials.
