Stakeholders in Lafia Central State Constituency of Nasarawa State has raised an alarm over what they described as political marginalization between Lafia Four wards and Lafia Three wards.
This was contained in a statement issued to newsmen in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital today Wednesday and signed by Alh. Musa Adamu.
The statement expressed concerned on how Lafia Four wards which comprised of four electoral wards of Ciroma, Gayam, Makama and Zanwa were favoured against the Lafia Three wards which comprised of Three electoral wards of Akurba, Agyaragun Tofa and Wakwa of Lafia Central State Constituency and appealed to Gov. Abdullahi Sule, the Emir of Lafia and other critical stakeholders to urgently intervene and give the Three wards State Assembly slot for political balance, equity and justice as well as peace and unity.
The Statement reads in part.
“Your Excellency, our father and our dear leader, we sincerely wish to draw your attention on issues of marginalization in Lafia central, where every position is based in the four wards; Ciroma, Gayam, Makama and Zanwa respectively”
“This are the following positions both elective and appointed thus, (1) Two Hon. Commissioners (2) Two Permanent Secretaries (3) Local Government Chairman (4) DG Rural Roads (5) Rector IMAPoly Lafia (6) Rector College of Agriculture Lafia (7) Secretary TSC (8) CMD Teaching Hospital (9) Chairman Judicial Service Commission (10) Chairman Assembly Service Commission (11) Executive Secretary Muslim pilgrims Welfare Board (12) Commissioner Federal Character Commission and (13) Federal Commissioner Revenue Mobilization.
“Others are (14) Recent Ambassador to Argentina (15) Commissioner Local Government Service Commission (16)12 years in House of Representatives (17) Secretary and Commissioner Nasarawa State Electoral Commission (18) Chairman Revenue Board, now Member 1. (19)Special Adviser (20) State Party Chairman and State youth leader as well as (21) other Board members of various Agencies which could not be mentioned.
“Your Excellency Sir. The three wards : Akurba, Agyaragun Tofa and Wakwa, has no single appointment from P A and above and no any elective position apart from councilor” The statement said.
According to them for over 25 years, local government chairman is recycling within the four wards, and called for intervention of the State Governor and other critical stakeholders for the consideration of the State Assembly seat for the three wards of Lafia Central Constituency in 2027.
