The political atmosphere in Nasarawa State is getting more tense ahead of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC Primary Election bild for few days ahead.
Consequently, communities who feel neglected and marginalized in Lafia Central Constituency, the heart of the power in the State are mobilizing for full force protest over what they described as total neglect, political marginalized and injustice of the highest other in the political landscape in Lafia LGA of the State.
The protest scheduled to hold ahead of the primary election of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC according to the conveners is to draw the attention of the State Governor Engr. Abdullahi Sule and the party leadership under Dr. Aliyu Bello to the reality on ground and called for urgent attention, intervention and solution to the pending political in balanced in the area between Lafia four wards and Lafia three wards respectively.
The groups from various communities that make up Lafia three wards have expressed great concerns and dissatisfaction over what they described as political marginalization between Lafia Four wards and Lafia Three wards.
According to one of the leaders Alh. Saleh Jibrin Angulu, Lafia Four wards which comprised of four electoral wards of Ciroma, Gayam, Makama and Zanwa are favored with both elected and appointed political positions against the Lafia Three wards which comprised of Three electoral wards of Akurba, Agyaragu Tofa and Wakwa of Lafia Central State Constituency.
He said that they are appealing to Gov. Abdullahi Sule, the State APC Chairman Dr. Aliyu Bello and the Emir of Lafia among other critical stakeholders to urgently intervene and give the Three wards State Assembly slot for them to be carried along in the scheme of things.
This, he said will give room for political balance, equity and justice as well as peace and unity among the diverse athnic nationalities in the area and the constituency.
According to him, every position is based in the four wards; Ciroma, Gayam, Makama and Zanwa respectively and this positions include Two Hon. Commissioners, Two Permanent Secretaries, Local Government Chairman, DG Rural Roads, Rector IMAPoly Lafia, Rector College of Agriculture Lafia, Secretary TSC, CMD Teaching Hospital, Chairman Judicial Service Commission, Chairman Assembly Service Commission, Executive Secretary Muslim pilgrims Welfare Board, Commissioner Federal Character Commission and Federal Commissioner Revenue Mobilization.
Others are Recent Ambassador to Argentina, Commissioner Local Government Service Commission aside the fact that they have spent 12 years in House of Representatives among others.
“Secretary and Commissioner Nasarawa State Electoral Commission, Chairman Revenue Board, now Member 1, Special Adviser to the Governor, State Party Chairman and State youth leader as well as other Board members of various Agencies” he added.
He said the three wards, Akurba, Agyaragu Tofa and Wakwa, has no single appointment from P A and above and no any elective position apart from a councilor
stressing that for over 25 years, Local Government Chairman of Lafia was being rotating within the four wards, and called for urgent intervention of the State Governor, the party chairman and the traditional institution as well as other critical stakeholders especially the consideration of the State Assembly seat for the three wards of Lafia Central Constituency in 2027 to enable them have sense of belonging and for equity and justice.
