The Labour Party ( LP), has officially unveiled former Information of Information, Hon Labaran Maku as its flag bearer for the June 20, 2026 Nasarawa North senatorial bye-election.

Hon. Gaza Jonathan Gbefwi, Member of the House of Representatives for Keffi/Karu/Kokona Federal Constituency stated this during LP consultative meeting in Akwanga LGA.

It would be reported that the consultative meeting brought together party stakeholders from Akwanga, Wamba, and Nassarawa-Eggon LGAs.

Hon. Gaza Jonathan Gbefwi, declared that the overwhelming enthusiasm shows the people are ready to reclaim their mandate.

He noted that Maku is uniquely qualified to fill the vacuum left by the late Senator Godiya Akwashiki and carry on his legacy.

The lawmaker said that Maku has all what its takes to be Senator.

Hon. Gaza maintained that the Labour Party’s performance in the 2023 elections proved its structure is rooted in the people.

He called on the people to support and vote Maku come June 20, 2026.

On his part, Hon Labaran Maku, the Former Minister of Information while addressing journalists after the meeting assured of quality and sound representation, if elected Senator.

He stated he is returning to his political roots to give Nasarawa State a unified, new direction.

The former Information Minister said he joined the Labour Party after leaving the SDP, and adopted the slogan “Godiya na Allah,” meaning “Thanksgiving to God.”

Maku promised to complete all unfinished projects started by the late Sen. Godiya Akwashiki.

He solicited for the prayers and support of all and sundry to enable him succeed.

Earlier, Mr Asoloko Maku, Labour Party Chairman, Nasarawa State welcomed all new party members in the zone and urged them to work in unity for the victory of Maku and party beyond 2027.

He assured Gaza, Maku, stakeholders and other members of the party of his commitment to take the party to greater height.
