The #Nigerian Youths Decide 2023: a vibrant youth group in Nigeria, has stressed the need for the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to run for the 2023 Presidential election to ensure credibility and good governance in the country.

The group who stormed Paseli in Kuje Area Council, FCT, to drum support for Osinbajo, said having been on the saddle as deputy to President Muhammadu Buhari, he has the firm knowledge of what Nigerians need and will deliver.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a preliminary voting exercise was held among some Presidential nominees where the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo emerged the required candidate.

Mal. Yusuf Nuhu, the Chairman of the group during the rally in Kuje, said that members of the group cut across all tribes and religion together with the six geo-political zones of the country.

According to him, it was high time for credible, young, talented and visionary individuals to take over the mantle of leadership for the economic and Democratic development of the country.

“It is time for Nigerians, especially the youths to plan and secure their future with leadership and empowerment skills for economic development.

“We need a good leader that is ready to help the youth and make sure they are gainfully employed with an interest of development at heart,” he said.

Mr David Paul Makama, the Convener of the group, said that the 2023 elections was not all about zoning, but about good leadership with prospects of unity, sustainable progress and development of the country.

He said the group was undergoing a nationwide sensitisation tour with a view to meeting all major stakeholders in order to chat a new course for electing a good leader for good governance.

Makama said the group will also mobilize youths accross the nation, State Governors, past and present National Assembly members, to ensure that Osinbajo emerges the presidential flag-bearer and elected President subsequently.

“The whole essence is to build your capacity and explore ways and innovation that will prepare youths for representation in leadership positions at all levels,”

Mr Daniel Mshelia, Co-convener, on his part said discipline, focus and other good qualities of Osinbajo attracted members from various parts of the federation to work together to pursue a common cause of ensuring that he became the country’s next president.

Daniel added that Osinbajo has demonstrated the sort of leadership ability and experience needed to pilot the nation’s affairs at this time of her history and would make a true Nigerian president.

He maintained that meaningful development could only be achieved in an atmosphere of love, peace and unity, saying that Osinbajo’s “enviable wisdom, vibrancy, and humility, a better future is possible for Nigeria.

The Co-convener also called on political office holders to reflect on issues bordering on corruption, joblessness and ways of avoiding violence to promote stability and development.

“Nigeria is a country of diverse cultures and traditions which can easily be explored for the development of the country through love, care and good relationship with one another

“There is unity in diversity; that is the strength of Nigeria, our country and will forever remain our strength; love and tolerance brought about unity in the country,” he said. (NAN)
