Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Nasarawa West Senatorial District, Dr. Faisal Shuaib on Friday congratulated Sen. Ahmed Wadada Aliyu on his election as the 2027 governorship flagbearer in Nasarawa State, calling the result “an affirmation of visionary leadership”.

The Committee of the Primary Election led by Prof. Theodore Maiyaki declared Wadada the winner of the Thursday poll after he won over 190,000 votes.

In a statement he signed and released to newsmen, Dr. Shuaib praised members of the ruling APC, security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for a peaceful exercise and urged the candidate to be “magnanimous in victory.”

He wrote, “I must also congratulate the members of the All Progressives Congress, the security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission on the peaceful and successful conduct of the governorship primary election.

“Your election is a testament to your visionary leadership and the significant progress the state has made under His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule’s guidance and your contributions as a concerned stakeholder”

Assuring Wadada of his support, the ex-boss of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency urged the winner to be magnanimous in victory and to seek the cooperation of his opponents in the just-concluded elections.

Nasarawa Newsline reported last night that Sen. Ahmed Wadada had been announced as the winner of the All Progressives Congress gubernatorial primary elections in Nasarawa State.

Wadada, who represents Nasarawa West Senatorial District in the Senate, secured 195,285 votes to defeat six other aspirants in the primary election conducted across the state’s 147 electoral wards.

Chairman of the Nasarawa State Governorship Primary Election Committee, Prof. Theodore Bala Maiyaki, announced the result on Friday night in Lafia, declaring Wadada duly elected and returned as the APC governorship candidate.

According to the results announced by the committee, former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu Abubakar, came second with 49,675 votes, while Prof. Mohammed Sani Haruna scored 5,844 votes to place third.

Other contestants included Dr. Liman Hassan Mohammed who polled 863 votes, Zakka Lekwi Yakubu, with 396 votes, Dr. Fatima Abdullahi Adamu, who got 146 votes, and Tanimu Adapson, who scored 64 votes.
