The Director-General, Voice of Nigeria (VON), Malam Jibrin Baba Ndache says, his organisation is set to rekindle the partnership with National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) in telling the Nigeria and Africa stories to the world.
Ndace stated this when he and his management team paid a courtesy visit to his counterpart at NITDA, Mr Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi.
According to Ndace, whatever government ministries, departments and agencies are doing, if they don’t tell their stories, nobody will tell tell it for them.
“Those innovations that NITDA is creating opportunities for younger people to be able to also live their dreams, and embracing technology is for public good, not for destruction of our country.
“I want us to understand that leadership matters; and when you are given opportunity to lead, you have no excuse. You need to build on what you met on ground.
“I want to congratulate Abdullahi that President Bola Tinubu also saw the good works he has done and decided to renew his mandate for him. May Allah guide him as he move forward.
“I want to urge the management staff of NITDA to continue to support Abdullahi, because, this institution is not about him, is about our country.
“I am here as a partner. VON wants to deepen the partnership that existed with NITDA which I inherited as a DG. You know, if you are appointed, you take both liability and Asset.
“But am here to talk about assets, not liability in terms of leveraging on relationship with NITDA. NITDA is a profound organisation that we have related with and has given us the needed support,” Ndace said.
He further explained that VON broadcast in eight languages of four local and four International, adding that he and his management team are looking at the possibility of adding more international and local languages.
The VON boss also stated that the organisation now has the capacity to broadcast live from any location of the world on a convergence platforms and also trying to ensure that VON’s traditional platform is also strong.
“That is where NITDA comes in. I want to thank NITDA for all the support given to VON. Our job is to tell the Nigeria story.
“One of the things that NITDA does that we need to amplify is given the young people opportunity to excel in the ICT space. You should also look at supporting the private media.
“However, some of the challenges we are facing as a nation are fake news, misinformation and disinformation. We want to partner with you to continuously and consistently telling the Nigeria and Africa Stories,” Ndace said.
Speaking, Abdullahi appreciated Ndace and his management team for the visit and kind words.
The NITDA boss narrated the impact of the Agency on several government ministries, departments, agencies amd state governments across the country.
He promised to continue to support VON to deliver on its mandate in telling the Nigeria and Africa stories to the world. (NAN)
