President of the United States, Mr Donald J. Trump, on Saturday, Jan. 3, said the President of Venezuela, Nicholas Madura and his wife has been captured and flew them out of the country.
This occurred immediately after about 6 explosions hit the Venezuelan capital, Caracas.
The whereabout of Maduro and his wife has not been revealed.
Meanwhile, countries in the Latin America have condemn the action of U.S. against Maduro and called for UN’s intervention.
Also, the Russian Federation has expressed “extreme concern” over the forceful removal of Maduro by the U.S.
According to Russia, the U.S. action against Venezuela is “unacceptable”.
Similarly, the people of Venezuela has rejectes what it called “military aggression” by the U.S.against Venezuela and demanded for evidence of captures Maduro and the wife.
Trump has accused Maduro of drug trafficking and terrorism which he publicly denied.
Venezuela’s economy has been on its worst over the years as a result of tight sanctions imposed by the U.S.
In 2025, the U.S. said it would give a reward of $50 million dollars to anyone that would provide information that could lead to arrest of Maduro.
Recently, the U.S. has seized some oil ships belonging to Venezuela and others that are used to buy crude from the country.
