The Minister of State for Works and Housing, Mr Mua’zu Sambo has advised the minister of environment to focus more on expanding the energy grid.
Sambo gave this advise while giving a good will message at Ministerial Press Briefing of the Federal Ministry of Environment on Monday in Abuja. commended his colleague
The. Special Adviser, Media and Publicity of the minister of state for works and housing, Mr Idiagbonya Samuel disclosed this in a statement to newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja.
Sambo said the country must seek to expand its power generation through a low carbon path by making investments in clean modern energy and harnessing it’s renewable energy resources such as solar, wind and mini-hydropwer.
He hailed the efforts of the ministry in the area of recycling plants as well as the Green Wall Initiatives where according to him thousands of people are taken out of poverty.
“The Federal Ministry of Environment has done very well since the Muhammadu Buhari led administration came to power. As at 2015, he said about 35 per cent of the total land area in Nigeria was affected by desertification.
“Since then, the Buhari Administration has rehabilitated over 1,558 hectares of this degraded land, and in the process also, lifted over 8000 people out of poverty,” Sambo said.
The minister wished the Minister of State for Environment,Mrs Sharon Ikeazor, success in 2022 and beyond.
He said he looked forward to a sustained synergy between the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing and the Federal Ministry of Environment.(NAN)
