Factional Speaker of the Rivers House of Assembly, Mr Edison Ehie as resigned his positions as Speaker and member of the 10th assembly.
Ehie disclosed this in a signed letter dated Dec. 29, 2023 and directed to the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission.
The Lawmaker who represented Ahoada-East State Constituency in his letter noted that his resignation took effect from Dec. 29, 2023.
“I wish to appreciate my colleagues and the people of my constituency for the rear opportunity to serve and hope to continue to give my atmost best in the service of Rivers State,” the letter read in part,”.
According to reports, the 32-member house of the Rivers Assembly had been operating in two factions since October, following the impeachment of Edison Ehie who was the house Majority Leader.
While Matins Amaewule retained 26 members, Edison Ehie had been operating as factional Speaker with 4 members.
