Nasarawa State assemblyman Ibrahim Alkali has urged staff of the local government councils to be hard working and dedicated to their duties.
Alkali, member representing Lafia North Constituency, said the call was in the interest of development at the grassroots.
Alkali, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, gave the task when he visited Lafia East Development Area on Wednesday.
He also urged the staff to shun absenteeism, truancy and lateness to duties for the overall development of the area and the state at large.
Alkali said that the visit was to see things for himself and discuss with the Overseer on how to move the area forward.
“I want to commend the Overseer for being up and doing in developing the area.
“I want to assure you of my support to succeed at all times.
“I want to use this medium to call on staff of this development area to be hard working and dedicated to their duties for development to thrive,” he said.
The lawmaker urged the Overseer to continue to remain focused for the overall development of the area and the state at large.
Besides, he called on the people of the area to to be law abiding, respect constituted authorities and live in peace irrespective of their affiliations.
Responding, the Overseer of Lafia East Development Area, Mr Muhammad Haruna, appreciated the lawmaker for the visit.
He also thanked Alkali for his selfless service to humanity, describing him as a leader who have passion for his people.
“I want to also appreciate your contributions as the first Executive Chairman of this development area, whom during your reign in office built this secretariat among other projects, within the constituency,” he said. (NAN)
