The Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Mr Danladi Jatau, has urged the Tiv nation and other Nigerians not to relent in their efforts toward ensuring food security in the country.
The speaker made the call on Tuesday in Lafia while playing host to officials of Tiv Development Association and political appointees in the state.
Jatau called on all and sundry to prioritise peace, saying that no nation would achieve meaningful development without peace and unity.
He appreciated the people for their positive contributions in addressing food insecurity and sustaining peaceful co-existence in the state.
He also thanked them for the visit and assured of his commitment to provide all-inclusive governance in the state.
The speaker commended Tiv in Nasarawa State for their contributions in addressing food security and promotion of harmonious living.
He praised them for conducting a peaceful dispositions, intellectual contributions to the education section and most importantly their farming prowess that had contributed greatly in enhancing food and agriculture.
Jatau further commended the Tiv people for supporting Gov. Abdullahi Sule, while urging them to do more for the overall development and success of the present administration.
The speaker assured them to expect good governance and speedy development, especially now that the legal battles on the governorship elections are over.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation and Special Adviser to the Governor on Project Monitoring, Moses Utundu, said the visit was to congratulate Jatau on his emergence as Speaker of the 7th Assembly .
“And to congratulate you on APC’s recent Supreme Court victory.’’
He said that the Tiv people in the state had not lost track in supporting the government of the day.
“Most especially, the government of Sule, who is committed to providing security to lives and property at the grassroots,” he said
The special adviser assured the speaker of their prayers and support to enable him and the governor to succeed.
In a related development, the speaker also hosted the District Chairmen and Secretaries of Evangelical Church Wining All (ECWA) in Nasarawa State led by Jacob Egba.
The delegation was on a visit to identify with the speaker, being a member of the church for his emergence as the leader of the house.
Egba called on the speaker to be transparent in piloting the affairs of the House.
Responding, the speaker said that the visit was commendable and urged religious leaders to pray for the government to succeed and advocate for peace among their adherents.(NAN)
