Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Health, has assured of the House continued commitment and support to the success of all health good policies and programmes in the State.

This, the committee said it is always ready to partner with any relevant organization that will improve on the health status of the people of the state.

Hon. Larry Ven-Bawa, the Chairman of the committee gave the assurance while playing host to the management of the State Ministry of Health and Sector- Wide Approach Project (SWAp) in Lafia.

Hon. Ven- Bawa, who is the Chief Whip of the House commended President Bola Tinubu and Gov. Abdullahi Sule for improving on the health status of Nigerians.

” I have heard all what you said, I want to assure you that the House is ever ready to support any good health policy and programme in the state.

” This is because a heathy nation is a wealthy nation. We will continue to support you to succeed,” he said.

The lawmaker said that he would inform the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau the advocacy visit by SWAp.

Hon. Ven- Bawa said that the committee would not leave any stone unturned to ensuring quality health service delivery in the state.

Also Speaking, Dr Damina John Ali, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health said that the visit was an advocacy visit by SWAp.

 

He said that Sector-Wide Approach (SWAp) is a government-led partnership to improve Nigeria’s health sector by increasing transparency and accountability.

“The core of SWAp are the principles of one plan, one budget, one report and One conversation, ensuring that all efforts are aligned”

“And directed towards common goals of saving lives, reducing physical and financial pains as well as producing health for all Nigerians” he said.

He said that under the SWAp, the health sector would have harmonize budget, plan and one document for health sector where such plan would contain the health needs of the state.

The permanent secretary appreciated the committee for supporting its activities to succeed and called for more support in that direction.

He also commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule for prioritising the health sector in the state.

On his part, Dr Lawal Abubakar, Consultant, Annual Operational Plan, Sector Wide Approach (SWAp) , Nasarawa State said that the project would be of enormous benefits to the entire state.

He said that SWAp is an aid delivery mechanism whereby national government lead the partnership and all funding is directed toward supporting a set of health policies.

” Through common management systems guided by agreed policy, expenditure and institutional frameworks as well as strong accountability and mechanisms,” he said.

He said that SWAp is to ensure quality health care service delivery thereby improving on the health status of Nigerians.

The consultant said that under SWAp, they will come up with one document that prioritizing the health needs of the people of the state.

He, however, called for more infrastructure, man power among others in government health facilities across the state.

It would be reported that Dr Danjuma Ayinaka, Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, State Ministry of Health, also spoke extensively on the benefits of SWAp.
