The Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode (MOK) Foundation has disbursed WAEC scholarship to more than 130 less privileged students from Offa and Oyun local government areas of Kwara.
The founder, Mr Muhydeen Kayode who was represented by a Director at the foundation, Mr Saheed Lawal, said the foundation recorded giant strides not only in Education but Agriculture, Health, Youths and Sports, Security and Empowerment among other areas.
Kayode gave assurances that the foundation will not only pay the beneficiaries WAEC fees but will go steps further to obtain free JAMB form and fund their tertiary education if they become successful in all their qualifying exams.
He spoke on the rationale behind the scholarship which he identified as his passion for humanity and community development and a way to give back to the society.
According to him , the community should expect more from the foundation as far as development is concerned.
The disbursement ceremony which took place on Friday at the Offa Grammar School Auditorium, witnessed a massive turn out of students, parents and guests who were thrilled by a host of educative and inspiring programmes at the event.
The disbursement programmes also had a lecture series tagged “Catalyzing Change: Private Partnerships In Education for Kwara’s Bright Future”.
The guest speakers Dr Adetola Salau, the Special Adviser on Education to Kwara Governor emphasized the significance of private partnership in expanding access to quality education.
Another speaker, Dr Yisa Azeez of Lens Polytechnic, Offa, raised the students’ hope for a successful life and urged them to soar higher and join in improving their individual communities.
The Olofa of Offa, His Royal Majesty Oba Mufutau Gbadamasi said this was the first of its kind in the history of the community where a large scholarship scheme of such magnitude will be awarded by a private individual.
The Olofa who was represented by his Council of Chiefs, described MOK founder as a true ambassador of development and a lover of the poor who has been contributing to the growth of humanity beyond the realm of education. (NAN)
