Being Young in Naija (BYIN), a youth advocacy initiative, has urged youths to take active part in politics and other activities to contribute to national development.
Ms Grace Attah, the Project Lead of BYIN, gave the task during its visit to Nasarawa State University, Keffi, on Tuesday.
The Being Young in Naija project is a youth advocate campaign launched in September 2020 by OXFAM.
“It is introduced under an OXFAM youth-focus and led project, ‘the Work In Progress,” Atta said.
She said that if youths took active part in governance, it would promote peace and development across the country.
The project lead said that among the objectives of the campaign was to amplify the voices of young people in Nigeria.
“Secondly, it is also to highlight experiences, challenges and opportunities available to young people.
“The third aim is to hold stakeholders accountable for youth development,” she said.
Attah noted that BYIN advocated for the full implementation of the National Youth Policy for the overall development of the youths and the country at large.
She added that the initiative was planning to take the youth campaign to the six geo-political zones of the country.
In his remarks, Prof. Mohammed Bala, the Vice Chancellor, Nasarawa State University, Keffi, commended the BYIN for taking the campaign to the institution.
Bala, represented by the Information and Protocol Officer of the university, Mr Abraham Ekpo, said that the institution would continue to identify with any organisation that was ready for development.
He said that the institution would continue to maintain standard and academic excellence for the overall development of the country.
Responding, Mr Ayenaje Gbefwi, the President, SUG, NSUKeffi, and Ms Loveth Amadu, participants, who spokes on behalf of other students, commended the BYIN for its initiative and called for its sustenance. (NAN)
