The Department of State Services (DSS) has denied reports that it has arrested the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.
The DSS stated this in a tweet it posted on Saturday morning via its official Twitter handle @OfficialDSSNG.
“Currently, Emefiele is not with the DSS,” the brief tweet read.
Reports have been making the rounds about Emefiele’s arrest following his suspension on Friday.
News of Emefiele’s suspension broke on Friday evening as contained in a statement by the Director of Information in the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Willie Bassey.
According to the statement, the suspension “is sequel to the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy,”
