The National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC) has expressed its readiness to partner with the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy in facilitating the deployment of digital pedagogy in senior secondary schools.
This is contained in a statement by the Head, Press and Public Relations of the commission, Fatima Bappare, and made available to newsmen in Abuja on Sunday.
Bappare quoted the commission’s Chairperson, Nimota Akanbi, to have said this at a visit to the outgoing Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Pantami, on the need for digital pedagogy in schools.
Akanbi noted that her commission’s request for the technical assistance and partnership from the ministry was to facilitate a seamless deployment of digital pedagogy in the nation’s senior secondary schools.
”We acknowledge the contribution of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) for its immense help in the installation of solar powers, maintenance and installation ICT centres in some secondary schools across the six geopolitical zones.
”This will help to power the 21st Century teaching and learning effectiveness for future readiness,” she said.
The board chairperson further solicited for manpower development for staff of the commission to improve their productivity and capability in the workforce.
She also called for development of Unified Educational Portal for Data collation for senior secondary schools to serve as a data depository bank for information dissemination.
Responding, Prof. Pantami said the ministry would spring up urgent support and collaboration with the commission in the area of ICT to aid secondary schools.
Pantami applauded the outgoing President Muhammadu Buhari and the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu for their providence in resuscitating the commission knowing that the secondary subsector is better than the tertiary subsector. (NAN)
