A Christian cleric in Nasarawa State, Mr Sunday Raymond, has advised couples to avoid pride, show tolerance, understanding and love to each other for a peaceful and successful married life.
Raymond, who is the Pastor in charge of Living Faith Church, Akwanga, gave the advice while presiding over the wedding of Mr Larry Bawa, member Representing Akwanga North Constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, and former Miss Asabe Ajegena on Saturday in Akwanga.
The clergy also admonished couples to live a life of humility and embrace effective communication in the interest of peace and for their marriage to be successful and last forever.
“Marriage is good, but for a successful marriage, you people must avoid pride, be patient, show love, understanding and tolerate one another.
“No matter the circumstance, you should respect, show love, understanding and embrace forgiveness at all times,” he said.
He urged the wife to always be submissive to the husband and called on the husband to be responsible for peaceful and successful marriage.
The pastor enjoinued them to avoid third party interference so as not to bring crisis to their marriage.
The clergy prayed God to bless the marriage, congratulating Bawa and his wife.
Gov. Abdullahi Sule, who attended the reception, identified with the state assembly over the wedding of one of their own (Bawa).
He prayed and wished them a blissful matrimony.
The governor announced his administration’s plan to dualise Akwanga township road.
On his part, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, the Speaker of the state Assembly, advised the couple to embrace the good virtues of marriage at all times.
The speaker congratulated them and prayed God to bless their marriage abundantly.
“This is legislative wedding, the joy of one member is a joy of all members, we are here to share the joy and happiness with him,” he said.
Responding, Bawa appreciated God for making their dreams come true.
He thanked Sule, his deputy, the speaker, his colleagues, traditional rulers, religious leaders, politicians, government functionaries, staff of the assembly and well wishers for their prayers and support.
He prayed God to grant them journey mercies to their various habitations.
Besides, the groom assured of continued readiness to bring speedy development to his constituency and the country at large.
He solicited for the support of all and sundry to enable him succeed.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the wedding had in attendance state Deputy Governor, Dr Emmanuel Akabe; state APC Chairman, Alhaji Aliyu Bello; Sen Godiya Akwashiki, Sen. Ahmed Wadada, Rep. Jonathan Gaza, top government functionaries, local government chairmen and traditional rulers, among other well wishers. (NAN)
