The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has expunged National Orientation Agency (NOA), Non Practicing Information Ministry and Local Government Information Staff from its’ constitution
The decision was taken on Thursday in Kano at the Union’s Special Delegates Conference during the Constitution Review Session presided by the President of the Union, Mr Chris Isiguzo.
The delegate unanimously gave the nod, stressing that NOA staff should no longer be accorded NUJ Membership.
However, the delegate in session noted that NOA elected officials would be allowed to serve their current term of office.
The delegates also passed the new law to bar members of staff of Ministries of Information and non practicing Journalists henceforth from being accorded membership of NUJ.
In similar decision, the delegates in session also concurred that Public Relation Officers at Local Government Area level should no longer be handed NUJ Membership status.
