The Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has lauded Umar Bazza, the Chairman, Bazza Football Club, for establishing a standard Sports Academy in Karu Local Government Area of the state.
The academy is named ” Bazza Football Club Academy”.
Mr Mohammed Isimbabi, the Chairman, House Committee on Youth and Sports, made the commendation when he led other members of the committee on an inspection visit to the academy on Thursday in Karu.
Isimbabi, who represents Toto/Gadabuke constituency, said that the visit was to inspect the ongoing construction of Bazza Football Club Academy and see what is happening there.
” We are here to inspect the ongoing building of Bazza FootBall Club (FC) Academy.
“First and foremost, we want to commend our brother, Mr Umar Bazza, for his love in establishing the Sports Academy in Karu LGA.
“We are okay and satisfied with the quality of work done so far by the contractor.
” We are happy that our brother, Umar Bazza, has put up this edifice which will be beneficial to our people and the country at large,” he said.
He said that the state would take advantage of the academy in order to train young players thereby tackling youth restiveness and unemployment in the state.
“We are also happy that the academy will ginger the state sports academy to live up to its expectation.
“There will be positive competition among sports academies if this Bazza FootBall Club Academy is completed.
“As our own Sports Academy will also live up to expectation in ensuring that right things are done,” he said.
The chairman assured of the committee’s readiness to bring government to the academy for the overall development of the sport industry, the state and the country at large.
“We came, we have seen and we are fully satisfied with what we saw on ground, it is fantastic,” he said.
“This will give room in fishing out young talents in the state and encourage grassroots participation and gradually we will be having the likes of JJ Okocha and others here in Nasarawa state,” Isimbabi added.
Receiving the lawmakers, Bazza said that he decided to establish the academy in order to promote sporting activities in the state and the country.
“As we all know that the importance of sporting activities to the development of the society could not be overemphasised.
“Apart from promoting unity and peace, it will also tackle youth restiveness and unemployment in the society,” he said.
Bazza disclosed that so far he has recruited over 50 players participating within and outside the country.
The chairman of Bazza Football Club Academy assured that the edifice would be of international standard.
Mr Ademuyiwa Olorunfunmi, the project Engineer for the building of Bazza FootBall Club Academy assured of good and quality work.
He said that he started the work in October 2023 and expressed optimism to complete the work on 25th March, 2024.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the committee inspected reception, dining room, kitchen, cinema arena, reception, accommodation, suites, control rooms, pitch, administrative block and field, among other offices. (NAN)
