Nasarawa State Assemblyman Muluku Agah has withdrawn his re-election bid over alleged doctoring of the state’s delegates’ list by the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Agah, member representing Nassarawa Eggon Constituency at the state House of Assembly, made his decision known at a news conference in Lafia on Friday.
He said that he cannot participate in a primary election that the process was compromised; not just and fair.
“I have already written my withdrawal letter and served the APC Returning Officer that will conduct the election.
“To the best of my knowledge, the delegates list of Nassarawa Eggon East Constituency have been doctored.
“The Electoral Act is clear concerning the nomination of delegates for the primaries.
“Yesterday, the state chapter of the party, under the leadership of Mr John Mamman, rejected the delegates lists sent to the state by the National Secretariat of our party, APC.
“The state chairman of the party said that the APC in the state discovered that the authentic list of the delegates was doctored in some local government areas of the state.
“So, I will not participate in the election,” he said.
Agah, who is th Chairman, House Committee on Planning, Budget and SDGs, urged his supporters to remain calm and patiently wait as events unfold.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the Nasarawa state chapter of the APC had on May 27, rejected the delegates list for the conduct of State and National Assembly primaries.
The state Chairman of the party, Mr John Mamman, told newsmen in Lafia that party in the state discovered that the authentic list of the delegates was doctored in some local government areas of the state.
Mamman however failed to name the affected local government areas. (NAN)
