Some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kosofe have endorsed the third term ambition of Lagos lawmaker, Sanni Okanlawon (Okla), popularly called ‘Okla’.

The supporters cited his accessibility, empowerment initiatives and assistance to residents as reasons for supporting his return to the Lagos State House of Assembly.

The party members spoke on Wednesday with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) during the APC primary election for the Kosofe Constituency I seat in Lagos.

One of the supporters, Funsho Samagbeyi, described Okanlawon as a compassionate and accessible representative committed to addressing constituents’ challenges.

Samagbeyi, a former House of Assembly candidate under the Alliance for Democracy platform, said the lawmaker had consistently supported residents during difficult periods.

“Since he got into the House of Assembly, he has been doing well. He is accessible and always ready to listen to people.

“If you take any problem to him, even if he cannot solve everything, he will still ensure that part of the problem is solved,” Samagbeyi said.

He recalled occasions where the lawmaker reportedly assisted residents battling financial hardship and medical emergencies within the constituency.

According to him, Okanlawon once supported some residents struggling to pay house rent after learning they had supported his political ambition during elections.

Samagbeyi said: “There was another case of a young man who was seriously sick and admitted at Gbagada General Hospital.

“When we approached him, he immediately supported the patient with N400,000 and contacted the hospital management to ensure proper treatment.

He noted that the patient later recovered fully, describing the intervention as one of several acts that had strengthened the lawmaker’s popularity among residents.

“That is why everybody here, both men and women, youths and the elderly, are supporting him,” he said.

Another supporter, Olowo Oluwafemi, said many constituents were backing the lawmaker because of his empowerment programmes and infrastructural projects.

Oluwafemi said several residents had secured employment opportunities in Lagos State establishments through the intervention of the lawmaker.

“He has helped many people to secure Lagos State jobs, especially teaching jobs, and he has also executed several infrastructural projects within the constituency.

“That is why people came out in large numbers to support him for another term,” Oluwafemi said.

He said residents remained prepared to sustain their support for the lawmaker because of what he described as his positive impact on the community.
