The Police in Lagos on Friday arraigned one Olabisi Oyebolu, 34, before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly beating up her neighbour and causing her to lose her pregnancy.

The defendant, a businesswoman, who resides at 33 Oluyeye St., Mafoluku ,Oshodi, Lagos is being tried for conspiracy and assault.

She, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem told the court that the offences were committed on July 26, 2023 at the defendant’s residence.

The prosecutor said that a fight had ensued between the defendant and the complainant, Mrs Bunmi Olunlade, over cleaning of the compound.

Akeem alleged that the defendant gathered her other siblings, who are now at large, and beat up the defendant which resulted in her losing her pregnancy.

Akeem said that the defendant had not been at home since then but was arrested when she returned.

The offences, according to the prosecutor, contravene Sections 173 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Bola Osunsanmi granted the defendant bail of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Osunsanmi adjourned the case until Feb. 22 for mention.
