Young Ambassadors Against Drug Abuse Initiative (YAADAI), an NGO, says it will continue to mentor, support and encourage young-peers Nigerians to achieve their potential.
The Chief Executive Officer of the NGO, who doubles as the Speaker of the Street Children Parliament in Nigeria, Master Saifullahi Khalil, made the pledge at the celebration of the YAADAI young female football team in Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that YAADAI celebrated its young female football team who won the Southampton FC football competition, organised among 11 young female football teams from primary schools in Abuja.
The event also coincided with the celebration of a seven year old Alyssa Attahiru, the overall winner of the “Little Miss Charminkids Universe 2022’’ a prince and princess contest that was organised in Lagos by Charminkids International USA.
NAN reports that Charminkids International, an NGO, is a subsidiary of all kids for Christ Nations in the USA whose interest was aimed at touching lives of children discovering talents and beauty in teens and kids and young adults.
Meanwhile, Khalil said that YAADAI had been undertaking activities geared towards improving the lives of the vulnerable group, part of which was the visit to LEA Primary School Waru, Abuja as part of the Alyssa Attahiru pet project.
He added that with the partnership of other relevant stakeholders, YAADAI would continue to impact positively in the lives of little children.
According to him, moving in that direction is the only way to build a world where love, justice, security and development would be attained.
“As you know, at YAADAI, we embrace anything good, and stand strongly against social vices such as drug abuse and other anti-social.
“As such, the exemplary lifestyle of exhibiting brilliance and creative disposition by our team and Alyssa Attahiru, has therefore reflected the vision for a new Nigeria, and indeed, a brighter world.
“Our award winners are builders of society, molders of public opinion and indeed, ambassadors of peace and development.
”As such, when our young children are crowning themselves with awards and trophies, especially those of international status, the future is bright.
“My joy knows no bounds as the award winner, little Charmin Princess Universe, Alyssa Attahiru, is a girl. She won the contest as the overall best in Nigerian beating hundreds of children made up of boys and girls, held in Lagos.
“Coincidentally, we are celebrating Team Yaadai and Alyssa in March which is the month to celebrate women worldwide. This is a clear message that if you empower a girl child, she will make the world,’’ he stressed.
He commended Charminkids International, USA and Southampton FC for recognising the talents in the young brilliant Nigerians.
He said with the winnings women were already taking over Nigeria in relation to the 2022 theme International Women’s Day “Breaking the Bias’’.
He, therefore, appealed to Charminkids International, USA, to initiate and implement a sustainable programme of action to address the plight of street children as a passionate appeal.
Captain of the team, Victory Rufai, who expressed her happiness over the winning of the competition said she was overwhelmed by the victory her team got at the maiden edition of Southampton FC football competition.
Mrs Zainab Usman, the Convener of the programme, stated that within a short period of time the little girls would be recognise worldwide.
She urged the children at Waru LEA Primary School to dream high and pursue their dream, saying that they are the leaders of the future if they put in their best.
She disclosed that the little Attahiru is expected to represent Nigeria in International contests and exhibit her talents among other kids from all over the world.
”She is also expected to perform her pet project by meeting the less privileged during her reign.
” On May 27, Attahiru and other kids will be receiving scholarship from the All Kids for Christ Nations Scholarship Scheme,” she said.
The little Attahiru who was full of excitement appreciated all for the gesture, adding that children must never allow fright, intimidation and challenge to stop them from achieving their set goals.
“I am extremely grateful to God Almighty, my parents, family and friends, and to my School, Britarch School, Abuja, may God continue to bless you all.
“I believe, together we can break the bias and prevent anything or anyone from letting us achieve our dream and reaching our goals,’’ Attahiru said.(NAN)
