The Supreme Court has affirmed Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party.

Following the decision of the apex court, the nomination of Achonu as the Governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Imo State was equally given a legal stamp of authenticity and legitimacy.
In a decisive decision that marked the end of a legal battle for the soul of the Labour Party, the Supreme Court has dismissed the case filed by the Lamidi Apapa led faction. Accordingly, the Supreme Court affirmed Julius Abure as the authentic National Chairman of the Labour Party.

The judgement of the Supreme Court has finnaly put a stop to the feud between the two factions that have been laying claims to the national leadership of the Party.

Lamidi Apapa had through his legal team sought to restrict the eligibility of candidates for the gubernatorial race in Imo, Kogi, and Bayelsa States to only those who had been selected through primary elections conducted by his faction in a desperate move to undermine the Abure faction’s leadership of the Labour Party.
