Mr David Ombugadu, the Nasarawa State candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the 2023 General Elections has presented certified true copies of BVAS machine records to prove that he won the election at Ashige Electoral Ward of Lafia Local Government Area (LGA).
Mr Ombugadu is challenging the victory of Governor Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the March 18 Guber polls.
The PDP candidate presented the records through a subpoenaed witness who represented the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the resumed hearing at the Nasarawa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal on Thursday in Lafia.
The INEC representative who was designated as PW7, presented the screenshot printouts showing the accreditation of voters in Ashige ward on the governorship election of March 18.
The Counsel to PDP, Samuel Jubril-Okutepa (SAN) told the tribunal that his client won the election in Ashige electoral ward, but was wrongly cancelled by INEC at the Lafia LGA collation centre.
The PDP candidate also presented two witnesses; his Agent for Chiroma Ward of Lafia and his Lafia LGA agent at the election to further prove his case.
The agent for Lafia LGA who was designated as PW17, said he refused to sign the result summary sheet (Form EC8C) because the scores were not correct summation of votes from various polling units (Forms EC8As).
The witness also explained that the result and I-ReV records was already admitted in evidence by tribunal.
The two witnesses in the course of their testimonies identified and confirmed the electoral forms and materials already admitted as exhibits which they referred to in their evidence in support of the Petition.
Counsels to Gov. Abdullahi Sule, APC and INEC, Wole Olanikpekun, Matthew Burkaa and Ishaku Dikko, cross examined the witnesses to prove that the results of the election was the reflection of what had happened.
After listening to the witnesses, the
Chairman of the three-man Governorship Election Petition Panel, Ezekiel Ajayi, adjourned the sitting to Friday July 28, for continuation of hearing.
According to reports PDP had requested that the names of their witnesses should not be publish for security reasons.
