The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says it has sustained aerial surveillance operations to support efforts to rescue teachers and pupils abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo.

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, reaffirmed the commitment through the Air Officer Commanding Logistics Command, AVM Abubakar Suleh.

Suleh conveyed the message during a courtesy visit to Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on June 5.

Makinde said the NAF promptly deployed an aerial surveillance platform immediately after the abduction was reported.

According to him, intelligence generated from the surveillance missions has continued to support search-and-rescue operations by security agencies.

The governor said the victims were abducted from Yawota and Ahoro-Esinele communities in Oriire Local Government Area.

He appealed to residents to remain patient and support ongoing efforts to secure the safe release of the victims.

Makinde commended the NAF for its swift response and sustained support following the incident.

He said the Air Force provided the surveillance platform while the state’s newly acquired aerial assets were being assembled at the NAF Base in Lagos.

The governor said the platforms were acquired after consultations with the NAF on maintenance support, engineering expertise and pilot training.

According to him, the assets will strengthen security operations across Oyo and neighbouring states when fully operational.

Speaking on behalf of the CAS, Suleh expressed the NAF’s solidarity with the government and people of Oyo State.

He reaffirmed the service’s commitment to supporting efforts aimed at securing the safe return of the abducted victims.

Suleh also commended the Oyo State Government for supporting NAF projects and infrastructure development within the state.

He said the NAF would continue working with other security agencies and stakeholders to safeguard lives and property nationwide.
