As Christians around the country join others to pray for Nigeria at her independence anniversary, a Cleric has said that hope awaits the country if christians intensify in prayers.
The cleric, Pastor Simeon Odey of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Sanctuary of Praise Parish in Masaka during an Atmosphere of Praise and Worship tagged: Unending Praise and Worship, charged christians to intensify in their prayers.
The Atmosphere of Praise and Worship was organised by the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Word Assembly Zonal Headquarters, bringing together worshipers from other denomination to seek the face of God for Nigeria as she marks 62 years of independence.
Odey said that prayer was the weapon of a Christian to get results, hence christians must be empowered to take their rightful place for the good of the nation.
According to him, there is hope for Nigeria, even though we have passed through a lot , we believe there is still a lot for us in the future if we come together, we can together achieve greatness for our nation.
“We are trusting God that as we move into the next round of elections, the power of the Most High God through the praise we are having today will cause peace for Nigeria .
“We are trusting God to give us the best of leadership and also believe that there will be good followership and our nation can have a total turnaround.
“The Bible tells us that many are the devices of the devil in the heart of a man, nevertheless the counsel of the Lord shall stand.
“We are believing God that this time around the Lord will give us the best among the three prominent candidates that will have the passion to lead this country,” he said.
Also, the host, Deaconess Funmilayo Adeyemi, said that the country needed righteous leaders to rule in every sector of the country.
Adeyemi also said that the country must elect leaders with the fear of God and with records of delivering their mandate to the people, so that collectively the country would advance.
“When the righteous rules, the people rejoice. We need righteous people to rule us as a nation. Righteousness is different from religiosity.
“We need people that fear God in every arms of government, in the political cycle, legislative, executive, the judiciary, the heads of Ministries, Agencies and Parastatals (MDAs) and even as head of a unit.
“You must have the fear of God to lead well so as a nation, we need people that are righteous, God fearing, people who are selfless that can serve.
“And I believe if these people are empowered, we will move forward as a nation. We will be having elections in February 2023 and so we need people who have the mandate of God to deliver,” she said.
Also, a guest minister, Dennis Pollyn, charged Christians to ‘burn for God’ as this would allow them to defeat every enemies confronting us as a nation.
“We pray that the fire of God should burn, God should purge this nation of all the immoralities to make Nigeria a praise on earth so that His will can dwell in Nigeria,” he said.
Highlight of the event was special ministrations and praise sessions thanking God on behalf of the country.
