Nasarawa State House of Assembly has urged chairmen of 13 local government areas in the state to ensure quality work on the ongoing renovation of their offices, as approved by Gov. Abdullahi Sule.
This, the assembly said, was for them to leave lasting legacies in their respective councils after they might have left office.
Chairman, House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim-Alkali, stated this on Friday while inspecting the ongoing renovation of Kokona Local Government Council by its Chairman, Auwalu Adamu.
Ibrahim-Alkali, who is also the Deputy Chief Whip, expressed satisfaction with the level of work done at the council secretariat.
He hailed the chairman for doing a wonderful job, calling on his colleagues in other local councils to emulate him.
The lawmaker said that the committee would soon embark on tour of local government councils to inspect the projects.
Alkali, who was accompanied by a member of the committee, Mr Daniel Ogazi (APC-Kokona East), commended the governor for releasing funds for the renovation works in the local government councils, saying that this would further enhance effective service delivery.
“I want to call on other chairmen to emulate the Kokona local government chairman by ensuring that they embark on quality jobs.
“I also want to appreciate Gov. Abdullahi Sule for releasing funds to the local government chairmen in order to renovate and furnish their offices for optimal productivity.
“The committee will tour all the 13 local government councils in order to ensure that quality jobs are delivered by the chairmen,” he added.
The lawmaker also assured of effective collaboration with the government in order to ensure grassroots development. (NAN)
