Safe Heritage Crest Academy, AMAC Housing Estate, Sabon Lugbe, Abuja, on Saturday held its 2nd Inter-house-sport competition, meant to expose children to every areas of life.
Mrs Bolanle Moses, the School Administrator, stated that the inter-hose-sport was also meant to develop the mentality of the children, as well as sharpen their academic prowess.
According to her, the event was not just to sharpen their academic standard, but also to raise their memories and think internationally about the issues of life.
“You can see that even the names of our houses does not conform to the normal system of colour, Green, Yellow, Blue and Red house as it is mostly done here in Nigeria.
“Ours is international names, the Stanford, Cambridge, Harvard and Oxford houses, everything we do is tailored to make them achieve international focus.
“Our message for these children about this inter-house-sport is to let them know that the game of life is about winning and loosing, one may not always win all the time, hope is not also lost for losers, they can always rise again.
“We had our first inter-house sport two years ago, it will not speak well of us if we repeat what we did the last time with our international exposure and focus.
“We carried out research before this event and we introduce some new things different from what we did two years ago, everything we are doing here today is of standard,” she stressed.
Mr Bamidele Safe, Chief Operating Officer of the school also stated that the aim of Inter-house-sport was to make the children ascribe to be international in whatever they do, hence the reason for using the Abuja International Stadium.
According to him, another reason for using the Stadium for the Inter-house-sport was to make the children know that Nigeria has international facilities in sporting activities, as well as making them to know they have international capabilities to do things.
He explained that the stadium represent Nigeria’ image, and that the facilities therein are top-notch and that this cold also expose the individual lives of the children to be top-notch.
Safe stated that Nigeria could discover sport loving individuals if consistency is giving to sporting programme like that of the Inter-house-sport, adding that the children has all it takes to represent the country in the future sport competition.
According to him, as a nation, we can’t live well without physical engagement, and that the aim of the event was not only to make the children academically sound, but also physically sound and blend the two together.
He advised other schools to imbibe the idea of sportsmanship to encouraged the children to be physically sound.
Arch. Abdullahi Abdulsalam, Chairman of the occasion who stated that the event was a colourful and remarkable event, added that it would foster competitive spirit on the children and they will grow with it.
According to him, the children have understand that if someone failed, it is not the end of life, but also to try more.
Mr Peter Achom, the Chairman of the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) who was represented by Mrs Naima Abdulkadir-Abdullah, PTA Financial Secretary, rated the event as 80 per cent of success.
He said that the event would bring out the passion of the children and make them to love sport the more.
“It will make them love sports and we know how sport men and women have made it good in life, especially now that we are in a community that you don’t live by your certificate.
“With sport, you can be an athletic person and this can be a source of income for them, this can be a passion for them, so this inter-house sport is going to bring that passion in the children.
“There is nothing that is perfect on this earth but this is almost perfect, the teachers tried, the parents supported them, the sport was amazing, the school performance was tremendous,” she stressed.
Mr Luka Agada, a parent, commended the teachers for making the Inter-house-sport a successful one, adding that it would help to shape the lives of the children.
According to him, the event was highly rated from his own perspective and that it gave him the opportunity to spend a good time with his family.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that various sporting activities targeted at promoting the knowledge of the children was featured at the programme.
