The Police Command in Cross River has confirmed the arrest of one Nkeruewen Etuk for allegedly beaten to death his 34 years old lover.
Etuk, 54, was said to have descended on his deceased lover identified as Ndereke following a minor disagreement.
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening at Abasi Obori area of Calabar South Local Government Area of the State.
The spokesperson of Police Command in the State, SP Irene Ugbo,who confirmed the incident, said that the Uwanse Divisional Police Officer responded swiftly when call was put through to the office.
“The police rushed the victim to the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH), unfortunately she didn’t make it as she was certified dead on arrival by a doctor on duty.
“Following established protocols, her li remains were deposited in the morgue awaiting autopsy to shed more light on the exact cause of her death
“Meanwhile, the suspect, Etuk, is now in our custody and we will ensure that he face the full weight of justice for his alleged action,” she said.
