Abuja, Dec. 13, 2025 (NAN) The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has charged students of the Nigerian Military School (NMS), Zaria, to remain disciplined, focused and committed to academic excellence.

Shaibu, while addressing the students during an official visit on Saturday, described the institution as a “sacred ground” that would remain part of their lives forever.

This is contained in a statement by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Appolonia Anele, on Saturday in Abuja.

The COAS said that while some of the students would proceed to military training and become officers serving the nation, others would advance to tertiary institutions, carrying with them the discipline, enthusiasm and values instilled at NMS.

“Wherever you go, you will find yourselves different from other civilians because of what has been infused in you here. Make the best use of your time in this institution, ” he said

The army chief noted that the Nigerian Army was investing heavily in improving teaching methodology, classroom aesthetics and technology to provide a world-class learning environment for the students.

Recalling the school’s strong academic tradition, particularly in quiz competitions, Shaibu urged the students to sustain the legacy through hard work and dedication.

“Read your books, remain disciplined and focused. You are the best that can be selected through a rigorous process, and everything is in place for you to succeed,” he said.

The COAS also commended officers and soldier-instructors for their commitment to grooming the students, urging them to continue to guide the young cadets on a path of excellence.

“These young men are part of our future. Ensure you look after them and keep them on the trajectory of excellence,” he added.

Shaibu congratulated all stakeholders for their efforts and prayed for God’s guidance and blessings on the school community. (NAN)
