Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has assured the State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development of effective synergy and support in order to promote youths and sporting activities in the State.

This, the House said it becomes necessary because it would tackle youths restiveness in the State as well as encourage more sporting activities considering it benefits in the society in terms of peace, unity and employment among othere.

Hon. Muhammed Garba Isimbabi, the Chairman, House Committee on Youths and Sports Development stated this when the management of the State Ministry of Youths and Sports Development appeared before the committee to defend its 2026 budget today in Lafia.

Hon. Isimbabi expressed happiness with the performance of the ministry in the areas of youths and sporting activities among others and called for more efforts in that direction.

“We have been mandated by the Rt. Hon. Speaker to invite you to defend what you have presented before the House, that is the budget .

“Tell us your grey areas so that we can address them because what we want in the state is effective youths and Sports development.

“As apart from tackle youths restiveness, sporting activities also promote unity, peace and development in the society” he said.

According to him, We are encouraging you to do more on winning matches in football and other sporting activities” he added.

The committee chairman assured of the House continue support to the ministry in order to empower more youths of the state.

“We will do everything humanly possible to take our youths off the street” he said.

The Chairman disclosed that he is sponsoring a Bill on Sports Development Fund in order to promote sports and take the youth off the streets.

Earlier, Dr. Ibrahim Adamu Alhassan, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry commended the committee for it support to the ministry at every point in time to succeed.

“We want to appreciate you for the cooperation and support we have been enjoying from you and we urge to sustain the tempo” he said.

He also appreciated Gov Abdullahi Sule for prioritizing youths development in the state.

The Permanent Secretary assured of the ministry’s continued determination and commitment to promote youths and sports development in the state.
