The Obidient Movement (OM) has disowned reports claiming that the Movement has endorsed Prof. Chukwuma Soludo for a second term as Governor of Anambra.
In a statement signed on Wednesday by Dr Yunusa Tanko, the National Coordinator, OM, the Movement described the claim as fraudulent, unauthorised, and grossly misleading.
According to Tanko, the movement has not authorised, endorsed, or supported any candidate other than Mr George Moghalu, who was earlier endorsed by Peter Obi for the upcoming Anambra gubernatorial election.
He said any statement or representations suggesting otherwise are false and should be disregarded by the public.
“The Movement remains independent, guided solely by its mission to promote integrity, accountability, and people-centered leadership across Nigeria.
“Its support for Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential election was based on his proven track record and commitment to national transformation.
“Therefore, any individual or faction claiming to endorse other candidates does so in a personal capacity and not on behalf of the Obidient Movement.
“The Movement strongly condemns the misuse of its name, logo, or identity to advance personal or political interests.”
He further said that any assertion that the Obidient Movement had endorsed Governor Soludo or any other candidate outside its declared stance was a blatant misrepresentation.
Tanko said the Obidient Movement does not participate in transactional politics or quid pro quo arrangements, and it firmly rejects any attempt to exploit its goodwill for selfish or partisan ends.
“The Movement remains resolutely focused on promoting competent and ethical leadership across Nigeria.
“All future political decisions, including discussions on the 2027 presidential election, will be made collectively and communicated through official channels only.
“Speculative narratives regarding the Movement’s political direction are therefore premature and baseless.”
The national coordinator called on the media, general public, and political stakeholders to disregard any false claims linking it with the endorsement of Soludo or any candidate other than Moghalu.
He added that the movement reaffirms its commitment to building a Nigeria where leadership was anchored on competence, character, and the common good.
“The Movement assures Nigerians that it will continue to engage constructively across all divides, upholding its core values of independence, integrity, and transparency.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Obidient Movement is a nationwide citizen’s platform dedicated to promoting good governance, transparency, and the vision of Peter Obi the Presidential Flag bearer of the Labour Party during the 2023 General Elections.
