Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, has donated N25 million for the renovation of the National Museum, Jos in Plateau considering the importance of Museum to societal development.
The governor made the donation during the 2025 International Museum Day at the National Museum, Jos, on Tuesday.
Sule said that the donation was part of his continued commitment to promoting culture, values and tradition towards achieving unity and peace in the society.
It would be reported that the event was organized by the National Commission For Museums and Monuments (NCMM) in Collaboration with the Eggon Cultural and Development Association ( ECDA) Worldwide.
It would also be reported that the event had its theme: “The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities” .
The governor appreciated the NCMM and ECDA for organizing the event towards promoting culture, values and traditions.
Sule lauded Eggon nation for their peaceful depositions and called for its sustenance.
“We grew up understanding Eggon culture as Eggon people do not like fighting.
“I want to congratulate the Speaker, Rt. Hon Danladi Jatau, Mr Mandy David Abuluya, the President Eggon Cultural and Development Association ( ECDA) for Promoting unity and peace.
” ECDA President, you are doing well,” he said.
Sule restated his administration’s continued commitment to promoting culture, tourism, unity and peace in the state adding that he had constructed roads to boost tourism.
Also speaking, Dr Danladi Jatau, Speaker Nasarawa State House of Assembly, appreciated the governor for his efforts in promoting culture, unity and peace in the state.
Jatau also urged Nigerians to promote their culture for unity, peace and speedy development of the country.
“Culture is people’s way of life; for us to get it right, we must place our culture properly.
“We must promote our culture, values and tradition for the overall development of the country,” he added
The speaker appreciated the governor for his passion in developing the state.
Also speaking, Mr Mandy Abuluya, the President, Eggon Cultural and Development Association ( ECDA) thanked Gov. Sule, Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage (Rtd) and Gbong Gwom Jos, Mr Jacob Gyang Buba, other traditional rulers and invitees for attending the event.
Abuluya, also the Proprietor, Nacabs Polytechnic Akwanga, assured of his commitment to promoting culture, tradition as well as unity and peace at all times.
Earlier, Mr Linus Kingi, the Curator, National Museum Jos, said that the International Museum Day was an annual event observed all over the world on every May 18.
“Because culture encompasses different spheres of life, each year the International Council of Museums ( ICOM) chooses a theme that directs our attention to an aspect that is relevant to the circumstances of the day.
” The Theme for this year’s celebration therefore is ” the Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities.
“From today therefore, you are going to identify participating groups through their performances, appearances, leisure activities accompanied by humor, courtesies, hospitalities and of course their cuisines,” he said.
