The acting Vice Chancellor of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education(IAUE), Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt, Prof Okechuku Onuchuku, has said that there is no form of immortality or indiscipline at the institution under his leadership.
Speaking with newsmen recently in Port-Harcourt on his achievements so far, Onuchuku added that no cultism was experienced within the walls of the ivory tower and stressed that the university had made remarkable achievements in terms of discipline, good moral rectitude among the staff and students, who he said, conducted themselves in an orderly manners, devoid of social ills under his administration.
According to him, here in the university, there is zero- tolerance in the operation of homosexuality, lesbianism, and all others immoral behaviors.
“There is no room for corruption, cultism, and sorting among lecturers, students and non- academic staff. We want to sanitize the institution and make it a place of sound academic hub, east of the Niger, where cultism, examination malpractice, cheating, hoarding of examination question papers, prostitution cyber crimes and other ungodly characters on campus would not be condoned.
“The present dispensation under my watch in the university, has finally waged war against such abnormalities that had dragged the good image of the school management and its founding fathers to the mud. It is certain that my administration is poise to fish out all those perpetrating evil practices on campus for possible prosecution.”
Prof Okechuku Onuchuku, said” perseverance comes before success” and therefore, students should stick to their studies, while shunning anti- social vices, such as, cultism, kidnapping, child- trafficking, armed robbery, prostitution, sexual harassment by lecturers, cyber crimes and other obnoxious practices and characters that might send them to their early graves.
He used the opportunity to commend Rivers State Governor, Dr Siminalayi Fubara for his dogged leadership sterling track records within the past years of this dispensation, especially as it affects the provision of conducive teaching and learning environment, and other infrastructure to the university.
He described the Governor as a” development pathfinder of the 21st leadership of the state and century”.
The Vice Chancellor further called on the Governor not to yield to distractions from those who never wish the state and its people well, rather should be focused on those dividends of democracy and projects that has direct- bearings on the lives of the people of the state, the staff and students of the institution.
He noted that the university was deeply grateful to God for using him to take the school from extinction to a greater developmental heights.
He added that the institution’s management, including the students would continue to support the Governor to be able accomplished his God- mandate to the envy of others.
