Sen. Godiya Akwashiki, Senator representing Nasarawa North at the National Assembly, has pledged to initiate more infrastructural and empowerment programmes for the people of the constituency, if re-elected come February election.
Akwashiki, the Chairman, House Committee on Employment, Labour and Productivity, made the promise during Wakama Day/Fund raising for Skills Acquisition of her members in Wakama, Akun Development Area.
Akwashiki said that he has done so much and still doing for the people of the senatorial district and promised to do more if returned to the senate.
“I have initiated different projects in almost all sectors of the economy. I have provided jobs, health care, electricity, and empowerment among others.
“I will continue to do more in order to change your lives and the lives of others positively,” he said.
Akwashiki commended Wakama people for organising their day in order to promote unity and their cultural heritage.
He assured of continuous sound and effective representation at the National Assembly.
The senator called on the people of his senatorial district to come out en mass to vote for him in order to enable them to continue to enjoy more dividends of democracy.
Also speaking, Mr Labaran Maku, the former Minister of Information, called on Nigerians to preserve their culture for peace and for the overall development of the country.
Maku, who is the Director General, Atiku/Okowa and Ombugadu/Ohinoyi tickets in Nasarawa State, called on the youths and other Nigerians to embrace different skills to become self reliant and for the overall development of the country.
The former Minister called on the people of the state and Nigerians to vote Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate, and Dr. David Ombugadu for Governor, Nasarawa State.
On his Part, the Guest Speaker at the Occasion, Dr Daniel Ewuga, Executive Director, Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational and Technology Institute, Lafia, underscored the importance of skills to human and societal development.
He spoke on the topic “The Relevance of Skills Acquisition in the Modern Day Society”.
Ewuga identified the relevance of skill acquisition to include self employment, diverse job opportunities, employment generation and crime reduction among others.
The executive director urged the youths, women and other Nigerians to embrace skills acquisition for the overall development of the country.
Earlier, Mr Dennis Anzaku, the Chairman, Eggon Cultural and Development Association ( ECDA), Wakama branch, said that they decided to organise their day in order to promote unity, peace and cultural heritage.
Anzaku solicited for the support of all and sundry to enable them succeed. (NAN)
